A novel antifungal cyclic depsipeptide termed glomosporin, which has a fatty acyl side chain, was isolated from a barley solid culture of Glomospora sp. A culture similar to Streptomyces variabilis was found to produce a novel cyclic hexadepsipeptide antibiotic named variapeptin.
